Using this website
This site is here so you can read about Northsline and Known. You can browse it, share links to it, quote from it if you want. Don't scrape the whole thing and republish it as your own. Don't pretend to be us. That's basically it.
The content here
The writing, the design, the images, the name "Northsline" and "Known" — that's ours. We made it. The code for the website and the firmware is open source where applicable, but the brand and the visual identity are not free for anyone to copy. If you want to use something from here for something real, email us and ask. We're reasonable people.
If you buy Known
Known is hardware. When you buy one, you own it. You can open it, modify it, flash different firmware, break it, fix it — it's yours. The firmware is open source. We won't chase you with DRM or activation locks. What we sell you is a working device, and we'll honor the consumer warranty law that applies where you live (EU or otherwise). If something arrives broken, email us and we'll sort it out.
What we're not responsible for
Known watches your network. It doesn't change it. It doesn't block traffic, filter content, or modify DNS responses. If something on your network breaks while Known is plugged in, that's almost certainly a coincidence — Known doesn't have the ability to cause it. The device is a passive observer. If you solder something wrong, flash bad firmware, or wire it into something it wasn't designed for, that's on you. We'll help if we can, but we're not liable for damage caused by modifications you made.
Open source
The Known firmware is open source. You can read it, fork it, audit it, point out bugs in it. If you redistribute modified versions, keep the license intact and don't pretend your fork is the original. We welcome fixes and contributions if they're done in good faith.
If you email, you can expect a real reply, not an auto-responder. Don't send spam, threats, or illegal material. We don't owe a reply to anyone who abuses the address. We keep the right to stop responding if a conversation turns hostile.
Law
Northsline is based in Italy. Italian and EU consumer law applies to any purchase. For disputes about this website or its content, we'll try to resolve it directly first — email us. If that doesn't work, the competent jurisdiction is Italy.
Changes to this page
We update this page when the terms change. We'll bump the date at the top. We won't bury a change in fine print — if something meaningful changes, we'll say it plainly here.
